20 years’ coaching York-based Training where it suits you

MORE THAN THE INJURY

The painful area is not always the whole problem.

Pain or injury can affect far more than exercise. It can change how you walk, use stairs, sleep, work and see your future. After rebuilding from serious patellar tendon pain myself, I understand the frustration and uncertainty.

We look beyond one joint: how your feet, ankles, hips, strength, training load and movement habits work together. If your symptoms need medical or physiotherapy assessment, I will be clear about that too.

WHAT WE REBUILD TOGETHER

Confidence from the ground up.

The aim is not simply to complete exercises. It is to restore useful, adaptable movement.

01

Control before intensity

Build awareness, balance and joint control at a level your body can tolerate.

02

Strength through range

Progressively strengthen the feet, calves, knees, hips and trunk as one connected system.

03

Capacity for real life

Prepare for stairs, walking, running, hills, sport or whatever matters to you.

THE APPROACH

Assess. Understand. Progress.

Your plan changes as your capacity changes—without chasing pain or avoiding movement forever.

01

Understand the pattern

We explore history, symptoms, movement, load and the situations that currently cause difficulty.

02

Build the foundations

We improve mobility, coordination and strength while managing an appropriate training dose.

03

Return with confidence

We gradually reintroduce the speed, terrain, duration and challenge your life demands.

THIS MAY SUIT YOU IF

You want your life back—not just an exercise sheet.

This is coaching-led rehabilitation and movement development, with referral when something sits outside my scope.

  • Knee pain is limiting walking, stairs or training
  • You are returning after injury or surgery
  • Previous rehab has plateaued
  • You want to run or hike confidently again
  • You feel stiff, fragile or unsure how hard to push
  • You want long-term strength, not a quick fix
“Stairs are no longer painful, and my walking distance and speed have increased. Tom works with the whole person.”
